What are bed bugs, and how can you spot their presence?

Tiny parasites called bed bugs look for animals or humans who are sleeping so they can feed on their blood. They are drawn to you by your smell, the CO2 that you exhale, and your body heat. 

They scurry away after feeding. The prevention, detection, and control of bed bugs are extremely difficult but not impossible.

They conceal themselves in the crevices and gaps of beds, box springs, headboards, and bed frames during the day. The main areas where bedbug infestations spread are hotels and other lodgings.

Bedbug control tips that everyone should follow

• Avoid putting your suitcase in a corner on the floor. Placing it on an elevated surface, like the top of a dresser or a luggage rack, is preferable. 
• Placing bed bug traps under furniture legs and bed frames is a good idea.
• Bed bug populations decline when vacuumed. Bed bug-prone areas should be cleaned and vacuumed every day. Seal and discard the vacuum bag as soon as possible.
• Install mattress and box spring encasements.
• Isolate the wall, keep it away from the wall, and do not let the bedding touch the floor.
